Kindergarten Pictures

Last week we got the Kindergarten photos back. This is her second year but last year they didn't do photos for some reason.
Sydney's pictures turned out great.  She is smiling, but still looks a little unsure.
Her close up.
We tried to have sibling pictures done but one girl was not too co-operative.
I love how Sydney has to hold Ashlyn to keep her from running away.
After the unsuccessful attempt to get both girls smiling in Kindergarten - I took the girls to a park and took a couple pictures myself.  Here is one of the best from the park.

Pool Time

Summer is offically here which means time to go to the pool. There is a huge outdoor pool complex not far from our place.  The pool is 15 minutes away from Kindergarten so I often head out with the girls right after picking up Sydney from Kindergarten.  The only downside is convincing the girls to get out of the pool when it's time to go home.
Here are the girls ready to run into the water.
The park has cool playgrounds as well as pools - this one you can climb all over the ship wreck.
Here is where we spent the most of our time - the kiddie pool.  This is the shallow end.
Here is the deeper end of the kiddie pool, Sydney spends the entire time here practising holding her breath underwater. There are 4 different pools here, beach volleyball nets, tons of grass to work on your tan.

Ashlyn and Food

Ashlyn is a very picky eater - so we're always excited when we find something new she likes.  The latest food that is a hit with her is Nachos dipped in Chili.
Not too sure what the camera is doing at the dinner table.
Cheese.
The food was so yummy she had to spread it literally from her head down to her toes.
Close up pictures are her favorite - you have to take the picture fast or she moves in closer to the camera.
Dessert the next day was also a hit -but not quite as messy.

New Playground

Our apartment complex has a new playground.  The girls couldn't wait for the fences to come down and the playground to finally be open.
Testing out the trampoline.
Log cabin before the sand box.
The main attraction the "man in the park".
Syd approves of the slide.
Side view of the man in the park - this is also how Ashlyn climbs up to the slide.
Sydney's favorite swing.
The girls on the normal swings.
Needless to say the playground is a hit - we're there as often as the weather allows.

Bathing Beauties

The girls couldn't wait for warm weather to get wet.  We were at David's parents house and we had 2 days of close to 30 degrees - so the 2nd day the girls weren't interested in the sand at all but water was a huge hit.  They stayed in til they had purplish lips and frozen fingers, but had tons of fun splashing around.

You gotta love nature

Generally, I (David) never write a blog but someting happend that I think I should share. First it was a bit scary but now its rather funny, even in a weird way.

So I started going to work with my new bike. It's only about 10 km one way. Well this Friday was my second time. On my way home something rather unexpected happend. I was attacked by a scavenger bird, probably a hawk. I was riding through the forest and suddenly something smacked against my head. It felt like somebody hit me with a soccer ball. At home I took my helmet of to see if the bird left a mark. Well it did, but see for yourself:

I guess I was lucky it went straight for my head and that I had a helmet. But then, the helmet probably was the reason in the first place why it attacked me.

So here a picture of my mortal enemy:

You gotta love nature, eh?

Ashlyn's new bike

Ashlyn got a balance bike just before Easter.  So everyday that was dry enough to go out - we were out with the girls on their bikes.
Getting a little help at the beginning.
All by myself.
Enough pictures already.
Sydney and Ashlyn with their bikes.
