Pumpkins

Here are this years pumpkins.  Minnie was Ashlyn's choice.  Sydney picked out Ariel, after being told 4 princess faces is too much for one pumkin.  I must say I'm very impressed with how good they turned out.

Snow in October

Saturday morning we woke up to a white winter wonderland.  But in October, it's not too common to have snow here that early.  Last year our first snowfall was at the end of January. Sydney was thrilled about the snow and couldn't wait to get outside and play in the snow.

Sydney making one of many snow angels.
Trying to catch some snowflakes to eat.
The girls and David showing off the snowman we built.
Sydney saying good-bye to her snowman.
Ashlyn didn't enjoy the snow. She cried a lot and kept wanting to be picked up cause she was scared of the snow.  David decided that Ashlyn was going to make a snow angel anyways.  Needless to say she wasn't happy.
The girls wanted to go to the playground and play more in the snow.  Here is Sydney on the trampoline.
This is probably the first smile of the day from Ashlyn.
See saw in snow why not.
Sydney on a swing, she enjoyed it till we threw snowballs at her.
I like how you can see the snow falling in this one. Syd loved the zip line til she reached the end and the snow fell off the line in her face.
Ashlyn also enjoyed pushing David into the snow, and watching him roll backwards as he fell.

Ashlyn's ABC's

Ashlyn loves to sing.  Here she is busy singing her ABC's. It's funny cause she counts herself off in German and then starts the alphabet off in English and then it turns into a mix of both German and English letters. Not to mention the letters that skipped over.  Enjoy.

Kindergarten Latern Party

Monday was Sydney's kindergarten yearly Latern Party. Complete with Laterns that he kids each made the past week  in Kindergarten. Ashlyn is using Syd's from last year.
Here is Sydney and her best friend Ela singing before we go on the walk in the forest with the Laterns.
We started at 5 pm and it was still bright outside. That wasn't to much fun for the kids because their lanterns weren't that brigth in comparison to the sun, but they still had fun walking through the forest.
Here are the girls at the beginning of the walk.
After a 30 minutes walk we were back at the kindergarten where we started and had pumpkin soup and bread. Sydney liked the soup and Ashlyn the bread. After eating the kids play at the playground and the parents talked. Close to 7 pm everything was over and it was finally dark. So on the 2 minute walk home the girls were finally able to use their lanterns the proper way.

Finally

After 7 and a half years of living in Germany, being married to a German, having 2 kids born in Germany - I finally got my German Greencard.
Yeah,  no mare paper work every 3 years, just have to update my passport information and picture when I renew my passport.

October 3, 2012

The 3rd of October is German Unification Day.  We decided that we'd head off to a palace in a neighboring city, to visit their Fall Fair with the annual Pumpkin Exhibits.
Here is the Palace in Ludwigsburg (Blühendes Barock in Ludwigsburg).
There were pumpkins everywhere - the paths were lined with pumpkins.  Here are some of the larger pumpkin creations.  This years theme if you haven't caught on yet was Swizterland.
Every possible sort of pumpkin was also set up on display waiting to be bought by the crowd.
There were some rather creative pumpkin sculptures.  The picture of Ashlyn in the middle pointing at a sculpture is the best picture we got of her all day.
Sydney's favorite part of the day was the hay.  There was an area set up for kids of all ages to play in.  Ashlyn was very unsure, but Syd loved it.  The middle picture of Sydney and David is my favorite picture from the whole day, the expressions are priceless.
